A new study found that vegetarians suffer from depression more often than non-vegetarians.
As with all nutritional studies that's just a correlation, though. They can't tell whether vegetarianism leads to depression or whether depression leads to vegetarianism, or maybe something else causes both.
I'd say its vegetarism goes to depression; on one front you are depriving a lot of essential nutrients from your body, on other hand you loose sense of belong to general group and become member of exclusive group, problem with exclusive groups being that exchanging views is generally prohibited, and so is thinking
There have also been studies that found that liberals are more likely to be mentally ill. As vegetarians are likely to be liberals it's hard to tell what's the chicken and what's the egg.
