Pretty confused why would they call Pakistanis "Asians" and yet identify Iraqi Kurds with both country of origin and ethnicity.

It's not uncommon to call everyone from east of Europe "Asian" in the UK. If I had a tinfoil hat I'd guess it's another ploy to hide who's really responsible.
