So Netflix recently released a Bo Burnham comedy special called "Inside" which was shot entirely within a single room over the course of a year. I have always enjoyed this comedians work despite his childishness and constant self-deprecation which makes him unbearable for some.
Bo Burnham gained a rise to fame doing catchy but profanity laced songs on youtube back in its hey day and not a ton has changed. This show is waaaay more introspective and lambasts pretty much everything about social media and entertainment culture. I think it hits on lots of points about how dangerous and disorienting constant loneliness can be for young men though it definitely doesn't admit to it.
Bo is definitely left leaning and you can tell in the language he chooses but what I like about this special in particular is that he hits on some very based points about power and silicon valley hegemony.
Anyway, I will never recommend getting Netflix if you dont already have it so . . . yar har fiddle dee dee
I actually got into a pretty bad depression spiral from watching too much of his stuff together. The jokes have some real darkness behind them. But he is an especially talented performer so I think I'll check this out as a swans song for my Netflix account
This is definitely still pretty dark at its core. Be safe man
