I really enjoyed Season 1 of Megalo Box. It was a high octane feel good boxing anime.
Season 2 has had a tonal shift focusing on depression, redemption and immigration.
Ten episodes of Season 2 have aired and it has been decent overall but there have been blatant nods in first 4 episodes of the show that pushes the sentiment that mass immigration is a good thing and the show purposely portrays migrants as just unlucky but good people suffering from discrimination.
This interview is illuminating as the writers seemingly admit they purposely put in pro-mass migration rhetoric.
This interview includes snippets where they also talk about the main protagonist suffering from "toxic masculinity".
I am not sure if I should take this interview seriously since it was conducted by Anime News Network which is a woke outlet. It is possible that the original Japanese writers and producer did not even use this woke terminology and they just "localized" the interview.

From what I see, the new season is not popular domestically, and the writers admitted to putting this stuff in.
Drop time if you’re watching it.
