This is exactly what they did in Canada, too. The housing market is absolutely absurd here because it's been in effect for even longer. "Everyone should be renting" and "No one should own more than one house" and "no one should be wasting livable space on grass!" are actual arguments frequently made by much of the sheep here as the solution to the skyrocketing home rates.
One person even mentions letting more people build homes and the freak out that "Everyone would starve! We can't waste land on building more houses!"
Those are all common arguments I have heard from people complaining about not being able to afford a house.
