In this one I'm remembering they had the kiddos put on some kind of outer rubber coat and goggles or something to make it seem even more dystopic. I think it was told from the perspective of the kid's mom who was trying her darnedest to give her kids a relatively normal beach experience despite the dangers.
I also remember them saying something like "we could tolerate the sun's rays for a short time without the equipment, which we did just to enjoy the beach air for a moment, but only for a short time".
