Anime in the west is going to be cucked for the future (And kind of has been for years now). I'm glad I'm more of a manga guy myself, but even that doesn't seem to be safe.
For starters, there are a lot of people that take the leftist perspective on themes of some stories. Not major, but the sort of stuff that I saw was bubbling over during the early 2010s and late 2000s.
And second, while it was one controversy, people got butthurt over a character in some villainess manga who was afflicted with a curse and had dark skin. Spoilers, but I think you can see where this is going. The girl gets cured and her skins turns white and people got mad that it was whitewashing. And while you might think it was just some westerners getting mad over something. That manga actually had a revised version in Japan that kept her skin the same. So I do have my concerns that the tide is turning in Japan.
