(1994) Macross Plus OVA's - Macross is similar to Gundam but with added Pop music and love triangles. These OVAs were my introduction to the series and it was amazing. The fights in this are pristinely beautiful aerial combat that culminates in an absolutely epic finale. Kinda like an anime Top Gun

(2016) Mobile Suit Gundam Thunderbolt: December Sky. This movie came out in 2016 and looks visually stunning throughout the entire action packed spectacle. The story focuses on two enemies duking it out the entire film and places them on equal footing, there are no real good guys and bad guys here.

(2014) Parasyte - this is like an anime version of a Marvel comic like Spiderman. Teen becomes infected and has to fight aliens with his alien powers. Very action packed and filled with great realistic characters.
(1998)If you want a highly complex cyberpunk epic thats so inspiring it has its own chan and numerous communities entirely dedicated to it that are extremely active to this day then feel free to check out Serial Experiments Lain (1999). It's very artistic and many hate it calling it too complex but I promise you it all makes sense if you pay attention, watch it twice and read the wiki afterward (thats a lot I know lol, but its worth it)
