I didn't know things are this bad with DCSS. I knew something was wrong when that trap change drama happened but yeesh.
CDDA suffered from exactly the same issue, and lots of people left. Thankfully non-woke fork (CBN) exists but open source scenes suck these days.

The default is orange, which is more visible against the initial Dungeon terrain, but black is way cooler.

If I understood the story correctly, they just did with your game. They ruined the game, people left, and now the few people left are looking at the ruins trying to "make it great again". But that's too late, now you will have to spend energy again, months or years of work, convince people to play it again, and nothing is stopping the wokes to step up again and ruin it again and again. The left will infiltrate whatever they can, spread like cancer, take control, or if they can't control it, destroy it.
As much as I like FOSS, we can't deny it's an open gate for the wokes, and we can't take anything for granted.

It's not my game. I joined when Woke staged its coup, partly for the political challenge. I am the reaction, not the defeated conservatives, who mostly left.
DCSS is to roguelikes what Emacs is to text editors. It cannot be replaced; the effort of its creation was too massive. The number of bad versions created by woke devs is irrelevant. It is not ruined; rather it is still the best roguelike, with nothing else coming close.
nu-DCSS has regained popularity by targeting the larger roguelite market. Player base is not a problem.

Thus seeing a correspondence between a Human ethnicity and a Xeno race is likely to be less metaphor than genetic fact.
Hybridization is a poorly understood concept to most urbanites detached from the realities of animal breeding. Human-Xeno hybridization has drastically accelerated since Roswell; late-stage hybrids can pass as Human and live in Human society. Of course, Human is a galactic genus, so many full Xenos can do the same.
