It doesn't matter if it makes them look like complete smug asses. Wanting to Believe takes precedent.

There was a moment back when Digg was still relevant, when I was trying to debate democrats and I had an epiphany that they weren't actually expressing remorse or concern that republicans felt the way they do. They outright wanted the Republicans they were debating to be awful, terrible people, and it made them excited when they thought it was true.

This was back in like, 2007. It's exploded since then to outrageous proportions.
