I hadn't even heard of Suikoden until now, but even just at a casual glance it's like with Warhammer and I watched a babyface video recently about Starfield and he made some very good points about this too. The people who argue about this don't even bring up the game, they're just defending ideology. Maybe not so much with Suikoden if it's still supposed to be technically a game people will play but the game itself is never the focus which is how you know none of these people are gamers.
This is why when Baldur's Gate 3 came out I did want to give it a fair shake as a game despite all the screeeing about bear sex. As it turns out there were tons more problems with the games' overall design and annoying behaviour that went far beyond bear sex which shows you how even people who were bitching about the game hadn't really played it and were just bashing it based on a meme Larian came up with. The gay attempts by male characters were far more frequent than just the druid and it even made the casual gamers clearly uncomfortable wondering why the party members were all sex pests.
