FLCL was the peak funny/ dumb for me. Intriguing story elements were wiped away by all the shots of little girl's crotches. Emotional - maybe even humorous - moments were undercut by actual retardation (like the manga scenes). The animation was superb. The soundtrack was fantastic. At the end of it though, I went away with the dark feeling that Japanese people are all autistic perverts with great taste in music.
