years back, the FBI ran a series of studies to pre-identify false crime reports. the most blatantly distinctive and obvious group were the ones where a female reported shit that was over-the-top violent, especially false rape allegations. crime like that is genuinely, extremely rare. but it's really common on TV and gets a lot of attention. and in some cases, they even go as far as copying story lines from crime dramas and reporting that shit as real for attention.

we're not talking about crime reports where they simply fail to find and convict a perp. we're talking about crime reports where investigation concludes the report itself was false in the first place, never happened, made up, total liar fabrication.
