College has become universally pushed; it is every bit as expected as high school. I suppose a formal study for confirmation has its use, but as there is near-total overlap between “young adult” and “college student,” this might as well be “random sampling of the general population, ages 17-24, has same fundamental characteristics as the general population,” to which I say “duh.”
