Forget modding, a lot of people seriously underestimate how easy some games are to make when you break it down. This is why I'm trying to nudge people into game dev constantly. I'm frequently surprised at the bullshit people believe around game dev and often it's stuff that's spread by the big studios themselves to make their work seem more complicated than it really is and justify their idiotic development cycles.

The effort I've seen modders go into modding games makes me think it would be more worth it for them to learn game engines. At least then they can fix bugs as well and make something playable rather than relying on some cringey woke devs' spaghetti code.
