AFAIK eye damage due to UVC exposure is only temporary.
BigClive might have found the source of the UVC light: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6DlfLthx89E Looks like it was only in some themed room which would explain why it only affected a small percentage of attendees.
Funnily enough, the same thing happened a few years ago in the same city.
