More on topic, I have a relative that was in the service. He was an officer and always got annoyed by a decent chunk of the women under his command because an annoying amount liked to get pregnant right before shipping out. When it came to the heavy lifting or working with things that could seriously hurt someone men would often have to pickup the slack, too. One can see how that's a hazard if you're working with a chain or something else under a lot of tension while you're at sea, to give an example.

Though I think if I were to talk to him today it's the red tape thats one of the larger issues, it influenced his retirement as a matter of fact. All the bureaucracy and bs to get even a small task done skyrocketed under the Obama administration, according to him. He was already out of the military by thaf point but was doing the same stuff he was doing while he was in.
