I think it’s not necessarily a condemnation as much as it is that everyone with authority treats birth control pills as harmless (or even positive—I’ve heard of women, on the suggestion of doctors, using them to make periods milder, without sex being a consideration) so people assume they are. I know that I, personally, would trust the safety of medicine and reliability of doctors in general more than I do had Covid not happened, or had I not been in the right groups to get the true version (give or take some of the speculation and theories) rather than the approved version.

I don’t blame a fish for not perceiving water if it has never been removed from the fishbowl.
