It’ll take a lot for Snow White (2024) to be worse than this, but I think it can be done.

This is what the people involved with Snow Brown have said about it so far

When asked about how this movie will be different, Zegler said, “I just mean it’s no longer 1937, and we absolutely wrote a Snow White—”. “She’s not gonna be saved by the prince,” Gal jumped in. “She’s not gonna be saved by the prince and she’s not going to be dreaming about true love,” Rachel confirmed. “She’s dreaming about becoming the leader she knows she can be. The leader that her late father told her that she could be if she was fearless, brave, and true,” Rachel added. “And so it’s just a really incredible story for, I think, young people everywhere to see themselves in.”

Zegler, who is Latinx, is also representative of Disney’s ongoing efforts to embrace diverse, color-blind casting across its properties.

Following the recent criticism from Game of Thrones star Peter Dinklage regarding the depiction of dwarfs in Disney’s upcoming live-action remake of Snow White, a report has now stated that, instead of the seven dwarfs, the movie will instead feature “magical creatures.” In a report by TheWrap, which details Disney’s response following the criticism, several details have now been revealed about the characters that will adventure alongside the titular Disney princess.

“We did a really deep dive into fixing and making a modern woman out of Snow White.”

“I think she’s 13 in the original cartoon, so we started there and said, ’No, she’s 18 in this one.’ She’s a bit more independent,” Zegler, 21, continues. “She’s also living in grief. I mean, there was a lot of complex emotion that we decided to deep-dive into. And understanding what it’s like to be a teenager on top of all that.”

“It was really incredible to watch the cartoon and see, there’s no more waiting for a man, which is really nice. So a little bit more agency. We really see the journey she goes to become a really just and wonderful leader.”
