OF people are different - they crave the personal touch. It's the parasocial relationship that they come for.

To understand why this is a big deal, you have to understand that OF is not really porn. I've said this a few times and people still think it's a weird comment.

I'm going to try my best to explain it with a simple dichotomy. This might become a c/feminism post one day.

Parasociality vs Sexuality.

OnlyFans is heavily built on parasociality, in the same way as Twitch or YouTube communities are. Parasocial relationships are not something exclusive to OF, even male YouTube stars use a form of it, pushing a soft friendship that builds loyalty to the content creator.

A non-sexual example of a parasocial relationship is when YouTube stars directly address their audiences. It feels personal, but in reality, it isn't. They don't know who you are and they likely don't care. Another is when game company CEOs try to build hype around a game, talking about how they worked hard on it just for you, pushing a slight parasociality. There are even examples of unintended parasociality where people build affinity with a character in a show or cartoon.

These examples of parasociality don't really do any harm. Sure, you're emotionally invested in people who don't care, but outside of some shit merchandise or overhyped game, you're not losing much in terms of actual value. Even for the people obsessed with an anime girl, their damage is largely reputational, not financial.

Sexuality doesn't really need much explaining. You get horny, you seek sexual content or intercourse and that's sexuality. This is how the porn industry works. You are bombarded with ads, and that's how they make their money. Some offer Netflix-style subscriptions, but even these cap your spending at a fairly low amount.

OnlyFans combines the impulse of sexuality with the faux cameraderie of parasociality. That's what makes it such a gold mine. They hook into your sexual impulse and the parasociality keeps you loyal, as the woman slowly but surely "radicalizes" you, like a cult leader or Islamic terrorist group would, to devote yourself to her. When you combine this with the fragile mental state of young men thanks to the feminist led school system, it's a very powerful attack.

A whistleblower on the industry claimed that huge offices of desperate Venezuelans were being offered $6 an hour with a target of $1000 of extractions per victim, with pre-taken images and videos to send as these workers built the parasocial relationship for the women.

Only through education about parasociality and the removal of women's influence on young men can we prevent this getting worse.
