Some of that is just lame retconning when they decided to make games worse than super mario world.
I never got that reasoning though, super mario world was an amazing game and it was like after that game all they wanted was to do stuff that wasn't anything like super mario world.
I guess I get the turtle thing where he means he is kinda a de-facto turtle since that is a shell on its back, but that is also stupid regardless. Especially when you consider actually quite a few animals had shells on its back not just turtles. If anything it just shows his ignorance. Wait, and don't some I don't know... DINOSAURS have shells on their back too? That doesn't make them a turtle.
