Yup, not just in this context, but in general, I wish people would stop acting like mere possession of a knife implies, well, anything. I have a knife on me practically all the time; never had to use it as a weapon, thankfully, but I've used it for tons of other chores.
Like, no argument, this pedo slime is a monster, but the knife may have been completely separate from what he was planning to do to the kid he thought he was meeting. We simply don't know.
EDIT: Oh shit, in this case, at least according to some reddit comments, this was a fucking kitchen knife he had in his car. Much sketchier than a clip knife for the pocket, but some people still carry knives in their car as a tool. So, yeah, this is certainly sketchier, but could still be unrelated to planned actions. So, yeah, a bit sketchy in this case.
