Democracy is the system in operation, so we don't have much choice. It's like playing a game. The rules might be stupid or unfair but if you want to win you learn those rules and figure out how to dominate. That's what pissed me off about the election fraud - not that I care about the "sanctity of democracy" - it's because we have an electoral college with democratic votes per state and that's what Team Trump strategized to win. They knew what plays to make within the system. Then the other team tosses mail-in ballots all over the field, breaks the rules in the last few seconds on the clock, and the referee says No Penalty. That's before even counting fake votes.

I would prefer we throw out this system entirely, but that's less likely to ever happen than trying to repair it, maybe get some new refs, and play again.
