In fairness, it worked for Nationalist.

I mean, even in video games since the 90's, the primary villains were "Russian Ultra-Nationalists" in both Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon, and Call of Duty Modern Warfare.

Thing is, they misunderstood MAGA from their own Leftist biases, not realizing that "Ultra Make America Great Again" doesn't sound bad to anyone on the political right.

They were hoping that, even though Nationalist has a "bad taste" on the Left, calling people "Ultra-Nationalist" was used to confer only the negatives of Nationalism: meaning people who were genocidal isolationists. They wanted to take that same concept, and apply it to MAGA... but it's backfired terribly because people didn't see MAGA as extreme, and found it compelling after years of Leftist hysteria and moral panic.

Yes, I did just notice that the Russian Ultra-Nationalists in COD were Soviets... which is the most bizarre thing I've ever seen.
