Post Reported for: 12: Falsehoods

Copypasta from my Reddit post.

Post Reported for: This is misinformation.

I've had to edit this due to new information

"Black Lives Matter Mob" and "Saying All Lives Matter" are the more dubious statements here.

The white couple was walking through a canal at 3:00 AM. At some point, the father alleges that there was an argument with four black males & one black woman involving "Black Lives Matter" and the use of language. The fiance alleges that one of the men drew a gun, and he drew a gun as well. The parties then separated without violence.

The fiance says that he thinks the other party waited until he and his girlfriend crossed under a bridge where she was shot and killed. He claims he returned fire but did not see anyone.

This all means that:

  • We do not know with any certainty who shot this woman and the police released no suspect description
  • The "All Lives Matter" quote was not mentioned by any of the original reports. Cassandra Fairbanks, who wrote the original report and interviewed the father claims the father told her, that the victim said "All Lives Matter". The GP article was edited to reflect this, even though Cassandra was the author of the piece.
  • The father, who was not present at the attack, claims that the group of individuals who confronted his daughter and fiance yelled "Black Lives Matter" at the couple. I can only assume that the fiance is the sole source of information for this event.
  • The alleged perpetrators were not known to be affiliated with BLM, nor were they participating in a BLM event, nor do we have victim statements that claim any relationship to BLM, Only that the original argument was about "Black Lives Matter" initially. It is not clear whether that means the wording or the organization.

This means that "Black Lives Matter Mob" and "Saying 'All Lives Mater'" are is not supported by the evidence. is supported by a claim that stems from the father of the victim, and is a potentially valid interpretation.

This post is flaired Contested because the father's testimony gives a foundation to the claim, whether true or not.
