I wonder if modern "enlightened, tolerant" people will ever realize they're in the throes of an unreasoning tribal hatred greater than any ever practiced by the "primitives" in Babylon or Sumeria. All of the hatred Christians reserved for the devil, they've placed on enemies of the neoliberal western state, but without the mercy and pragmatism.

The modern world hasn't made people better. It's made them feel grander, which has allowed them to devolve into filth without noticing.

The actual crusades didn't inspire the level of religious hatred we see now, it's insane.
