Insurance for what? Defending yourself from an attacker? Shouldn't the attacker be responsible in totality considering they are the cause? If we're meant to treat this like Car Insurance, the person who causes the crash/incident is the one that pays/goes through their insurance, not the victim.

Do these people really think criminals are going to pay insurance for the crime they'll commit with their illegally obtained gun?

This is nothing more than an effort to prevent the poor from being armed, and shifting safety into the arms of the state, with zero actual responsibility on the matter.

At some point, it is of moral importance that people break unjust laws like this. So fuck it, get an illegal gun.
