So its become a high school popularity contest where the stakes couldn't be higher. At a minimum you will be banned, fired, bankrupted, and run out of town. At the high end, you will be murdered.

It has to be exhausting to keep up with a system that severely punishes non-compliance, and yet changes the rules by the hour to suit their whimsy. In the end its one of those games where the only way to win is to not play.
