I forget where I heard this from, maybe one of Jonathan Pageau's vids or Peterson's or someone from that sphere, anyway..

The guest was a professor who had come out with a book and in the talk he basically said we were in a sense returning to the paganism (with its Gods of vengeance, and all that entitled) of the pre-Christian world.

I'll see if I can find it later today because it was interesting, if all too depressing.
