The atheism movement of r/atheism fell to the SJW before GG. At about 2 years in the IRL conferences had them stating their privileges before speaking.

People have been using using "science" for decades (if not more) to bash people and force their opinion. "99% of scientists," ya-da-yah-da. It's consensus building based on pressure rather than understanding. It's a tool to characterize their opponents, and address themselves as in the right, while silencing the debate and exploration that is required for actual science and discovery. If you question, then you're a crackpot, because "99%" believes, and if a scientist disagrees, then they left 1% open for them.

If people actually cared, they'd explore the full issues surrounding the problem, and come up with a solution that best addresses them, rather than ramrodding something through that will only cause further issues. That, and the "environmental" issue has been used as a communist front for decades. It always ended up being about redistributing wealth. China's benefited greatly as it's exempt from carbon pricing, so it's now producing as much as every developed country combined, while producing those same countries products. The product gets made anyway, but you're not punished if you make it in China. If there was legitimacy, this would have been prevented before the world drowned the time before last.
