The Russian Orthodox church was never crushed, persecuted yes but it was so much a pervasive part of the culture there was no way to get rid of it.

When we lived in Russia earlier in the 2000s, every church and xrem and bell tower and cathedral and onion dome across the land was rising under reconstruction and renovation.

The US has always been christian, but many brands. America doesn't have 1,000 or so years of the Russian Orthodox church. (which I quite like I will add)

Also, the Russians are some tough ass mutherfuckers. When the world ends the Russians will be the last to go, kicking biting and fighting. Nyyet.
