Well, I can't say I agree with the first half of your comment, but I do agree with the latter half. In the context of The Frontier, ZuTheSkunk (the artist in question) actually doesn't seem to have done anything wrong - his artwork, while distasteful (in my opinion, and that's putting it mildly), was made entirely on his own time and separate from the mod. What work he did for the mod was just UI and armor graphical stuff, not anything to do with the writing, so he's unironically not the guy responsible for all the fetishy bullshit in there.

What happened here was that the actually guilty parties, the ones who turned a previously-hyped mod into their personal magical realm loaded with their creepy fetishes while hiding it from the players until release, are trying to use him as a scapegoat and blame him for everything they did. That's plainly scummy behavior, they aren't even man enough to own up to their own work when the controversy blew up (and I'm sure they must have seen it coming, nobody who's not already in a mental hospital could be so socially inept as to not see it) and instead fished around for the most convenient fall-guy they could, someone they previously had no issues with and who considered them friends. Truly there's no honor among thieves.

Re: the rest of the fetishy stuff, I actually agree with you that there wouldn't be anything wrong with it if it were honestly advertised, as I said in another comment here. Loverslab exists and hosts much more explicit content, which is fine because that content is openly advertised and won't fool anyone into thinking it's something it's not - you download a tentacle rape mod, you can get & enjoy all the tentacle rape you want, that's your choice as a responsible adult while people who don't want tentacle rape in their game will know not to get it.

But of course that's not what happened with The Frontier. The devs straight up lied about their mod being lore-friendly for 7 years, and they hid all of their fetish content up until release too, so loads of people were fooled into thinking they'd get a fun lore-respecting mod without a bunch of fetishes they may not be interested in. Then SHTF when their fans actually got their hands on The Frontier only to find out that they'd been lied to about quite a bit of what was & wasn't in the mod, but these devs were too chickenshit to own up to their mistakes and have varied between making up excuses like 'oh it was totes supposed to be gated behind Wild Wasteland!' and scapegoating ZuTheSkunk to take the heat off themselves.
