They did originally. You can find plenty of articles around when Trump closed the borders that were calling Wuhan Flu nothing more than the normal Flu in terms of deadliness.

Then they realised the elites wanted shit closed down because that effects the economy and makes Trump look bad, even though Trump has played it pretty smart in not stepping in (broadly speaking) and leaving it up to the states as per the Constitution states he should.
