Yeah. I had a discussion about this with someone in the YouTube comments a while ago. Topic was the first reboot Tomb Raider game (not the sequels).
He simply couldn't understand why I was fine with that one, while I simultaneously despise most modern "women lead" games. So, why?
- She was actually conventionally attractive and dressed in a fitting, feminine way
- While she morphed into a (somewhat clumsy) killing machine for obvious gameplay reasons, she was also visibly distressed and her initial reactions were very appropriate for a woman in such a situation
- She never once snarkily belittled her male compatriots or girlbossed her way out of a boss fight
Sure, the game already showed first signs of woke bullshit but it was in many ways a reboot done right.
