Are we giving the benefit of the doubt to the feds now?

I'm going to need a whole lot more than a DoJ press release on how they locked up some apparently rightwing dude for "threatening interstate communications." The FBI is calling him an "extremist incel" or some shit, too. He's also apparently a Hispanic White Supremacist Neo-Nazi.

I don't know the dude. Maybe he's a total psycho, maybe he's not. He's probably a moron, if he said what he said, even as a joke. Which he did claim it was, from what I can see.

I'd like to see more than that he said dumb shit, considering how the FBI has been acting, especially recently.

I'm not seeing any mention of guns, explosives, or any other weapons, and he'd apparently already canceled his plane ticket, so wasn't even going.

As for the CP, that's pretty vague. I see some reports claiming he's 20, some say 19. The "CP" could have literally been nudes of a girl two years younger than him.

To be clear, if he is a psycho terrorist, and/or had actual CP, I condemn him completely. I just also really hate the feds, and don't intend to just take them at their words on this sort of thing. Again, especially with how they've been acting toward people connected to the right.

EDIT: Also, has he been in jail awaiting trial and then sentencing for two years? Seems he was detained without bond in '22. He pleased to one charge of the aforementioned "threatening interstate communication," a federal crime, and I don't see anything else. Charges dropped? Was he charged with anything else? Sounds like railroady bullshit that gets him five years. He's got no charge for stalking, CP, witness or evidence tampering, or any of the other things the DOJ is stating that he did. The more I look at this, the more suspect it all becomes. Dude's doing five years for a Facebook post, because the feds said so. Far as I can tell, at least.
