I think you need to clarify "bad timing" for whom, the police? Compared to what? Nobody on either side trusts or cares about what the police say now. Inappropriate objectively speaking, but it's not like they're making inappropriate statements/actions for the first time, they've been inappropriate for nearly a decade now.
