Honestly they made this decision on purpose. I’m so sick of these race swap decisions and then they act shocked when there is backlash. They took an actual historic figure and changed their race for no other reason than “the message”.

If I was an exec I’d say something like “you may not realize this but people are getting very very tired of endless race and gender swaps, so why not just cast people who look like they are supposed to look”
