It depends on which gamers we're talking about. Most of the people writing articles about gamers are either man hating boomer simps or permanently single feminists who have this extremely old fashioned stereotype of gamers all being fat basement dwelling nerd mouth breathers.

Now don't get me wrong, that stereotype is definitely true to a degree. However it is outdated and as ever in a lot of cases even people here have commented how anti-woke various sections of the gaming community are. They might not always be the most physically fit individuals but not to stroke my own ego too much because it's about the community in general they definitely fall under the high functioning autist spectrum we all love to joke about.

It stands to reason then that with western militaries having a total brain drain in expertise as all the boomers move towards retirement they're going to make efforts to recruit people like that and stroke their egos claiming they can be sexy drone pilots and show off to women what they do with their l33t gamer skills. I think they overestimate the zoomer capabilities though as it turns out the really younger generations are growing up tech illiterate due to their overuse of user friendly phones and tablets.
