My shit-filter isn't perfect and probably has a lot of false-positives, but here's how I've been rolling for vidya, shows, and movies made in the last 5-10 years or so:

  1. Female protagonist? Next
  2. Director or studio that's already destroyed a franchise before? Next
  3. Horrifyingly ugly females in a series that typically had attractive ones? Next
  4. Race/gender swapped established main characters in an adaptation? Next
  5. Any show or movie by Disney, Netflix, or Amazon? Next
  6. Too many girlbosses or mary-sues CGI kung-fu'ing in the previews? Next
  7. Minorities and girlbosses in historical settings where they clearly don't belong? Next
  8. Any mention of feminist/woke meme-words like "heteronormative" or "patriarchy" said unironically is immediately turned off.
  9. Lectures about "white men bad" get turned off.

I agree that it's not perfect but I honestly don't have the time to consoom like I used to so it's not like I can watch/play all the things anyway. Might as well stick to stuff I know that can at least clear these hurdles. And there's loads of classics in my backlog that I'd rather watch anyway.

Oh, if a show/movie is great other than that inserted minority/woman character that's clearly to tick off the box, you can literally skip through their parts of the story and not miss much at all of the real plot. Almost like they were jammed into the script last minute to clear the HR department. One good example is that last season of Narcos with that obnoxious female reporter (was a man IRL).
