The goal then becomes latching on to a popular preexisting franchise so that you can deliberately subvert it by injecting your own unpopular ideas in place of the source material. This parasitic strategy provides the activist with a captive audience in the form of brand-loyal viewers. When the fans inevitably disapprove of the radical politics and degeneracy invading their favorite franchise, the activist creators always fall back on the “gotta make changes when adapting to new mediums” excuse.

Well, that and calling everyone who criticizes your work a bigot.
