I'm not disagreeing with that, it's something more base that Nietzsche was getting to: a slave morality that objects to the overwrought power of an oppressor, longing for a better king, and demanding moral treatment for the conquered.
It's a clever hypothesis, but populism is a result of Protestantism so it doesn't make sense. It would be more accurate to tie communism to industrialization, as every industrialized nation has experienced a communist movement.
Russia and China were already very collectivist societies that are susceptible Leftist collectivism.
So non-Christian countries go left because of "collectivism," but Christian countries only go left because of Christianity. Ok lol.
