What's destroying democracy? The Democrats. Also, this new Democracy™ is destroying any sort of democracy, and our representational system is a threat to Our Democracy™.
Faced with big and challenging problems — climate, immigration, inequality, guns, debt and deficits — government and politicians seem incapable of achieving consensus. On each of those issues, the public is split, often bitterly.
Case in point. Progressives are pushing hard for climate agenda, and unchecked immigration. These cause increases in inequality, debt, and deficits. And don't even get me started on the guns issue.
Basically, everything the progressives and Democrats want is making things worse and, although the Republican party isn't great (and often ends up betraying their word), at least their stated goals would often be pushing things in a better direction. Shame they don't actually do what they say, but that's a different issue.
Point is, yes, there is a massive divide. But the people they want us to cheer for are gleefully destroying everything, and the other side would at least slow that down a tad.

Haha, that's stated mighty boldly, even for how they usually talk about J6.
