How much of the caption is not in evidence Based on the picture? Never mind “this is the Republican Party” but the actual statements of present fact. I don’t even count one dozen people. I can’t really make out DeSantis’s face. I don’t see “nigger.” I guess “butt fucker” could hint at a “homophobic slur” but it is a little way down the list, and certainly someone who flies a Swastika in public would not be afraid to say “faggot.” I can confirm there is a Swastika or three present.

So, at best 1.5 true statements of fact out of five tested? And the thing is, they could all be true if you went there in person, but it’s important to not let media figures just tell you what’s going on without having to prove it. Modern news is full to the brim with assertions and assumptions and the general hope that you’ll just take their word for everything. Insist that they prove whatever they say.

Edit: I went and looked up the poster and she’s not media per se, but an activist, but the above still applies to any interested party. Also, conveniently, she blocked comments at some point. How very, very convenient. I wasn’t there, so I don’t know if this is completely fake from start to finish (i.e. hired leftists LARPing to provide fodder for Twitter) or if these goofballs are “legit” and Shannon Watts is just taking advantage by asserting that half the country is represented by these guys. Either way, it’s important to note that she isn’t letting people ask questions about it under the post. Why would that be?
