Haha call me petty all you want, but my last ex before I met my now-wife dumped me under really awful circumstances (going from a happy relation to overnight deciding she could do better, deciding I wasn’t man enough for her 200-pound self, being told similarly by her friends who hated me). I didn’t hear from her for years until last September when we happened to be in the same Zoom session for a conference in our mutual job field. She sent me a direct message trying to reconnect, and I got the supreme pleasure of ignoring it. She then sent a text to my phone, worded identically to the Zoom DM, and I got to do it again lololololol! I only hope she was looking at my face on the participants window and seeing me doing my best to look absolutely unmoved (when in reality I was laughing on the inside!) All that to say, I know EXACTLY what exactly you mean by feeling “exonerated.” She’s still single by the way, to nobody’s surprise.
