It's an image host. The geniuses behind Reddit created a site to share images without any actual way to upload images, so someone made Imgur expressly for the purpose of uploading their Reddit image posts. It's basically the modern replacement for places like Photobucket.
Unlike most image hosts, though, every image has a comments section. This is what ruined it. In the very early days, it was fine, and I myself participated quite a bit. It was fun commenting on memes and such. But once ShareBlue took notice, they started spamming the comments with Reddit-tier political takes and uploading images like picrel.
Now it's where 14 year olds go to train to become braindead college communists. It's even more insufferable than Reddit, Twitter, or ResetEra, if you can believe it
