That's the plot to GOTG 2.

Yondu kidnapped Peter as a child, as well as a lot of other children, to bring him back to his alien dad. Problem is said alien dad was looking for an entity similar enough to him he could take over the galaxy and after finding none decided to sprog his own into existence by breeding with countless females of countless races. He tasks Yondu to bring the children to him however none of them work and he literally burns through them to learn this.

Yondu has a heel face turn and doesn't take Peter to his alien dad and raises the young human himself. Yondu's actions are later found out by his colleagues and they kick him out their club because pirates many of them may be but they do not traffic children.

Yondu ends up sacrificing himself so that Peter may live and gets a post mortem full flag funeral that he had previously been told he wouldn't get as he was getting kicked out the earlier mentioned club.

So his hand in all the previous child trafficking and resulting deaths gets ignored because he gives up his own life for the last child of the bunch that he'd already decided not to hand over.
