Full disclosure, I pirated the show and I don't care if I spoil anything.

The timeskip did not do the show any favors. It felt unearned to see the main character where he was compared to the prior episode. Points lost for that, a transitionary episode showing some growth would have helped immensely. Especially since he is immediately slaughtering innocents because he's going cyberpsycho, when before he'd been handling his upgrades with aplomb. It's narrative whiplash and it was lazy.

The show gets points for Adam Smasher being portrayed well and lore accurately, he has always been the most interesting character in the franchise and he was used well (unlike in the game). Bonus points for Rebecca being an overall good character, unlike the other female supporting cast who were just aggressively retarded.

It loses points for Pondsmiths ridiculous faux African slang being everywhere. This can't be helped, but it also doesn't get less obnoxious to keep hearing it. If anyone ever calls me "choom" in real life they're going to be told to take the cock out of their mouth before they try talking to an adult.

Cyberpsychosis was handled... strangely. At least if you've read the old books. The premise here is that you give up your humanity bit by bit the more cyberware you install, and you only have so much to go around before you stop viewing OTHERS as people, since you can't disassociate yourself as a person. In the books it's basically opposite, you lose your ability to relate to humans because you cease to see yourself as one.

It can also be solved if caught early by just chipping some cyberware out again. It was an analogy for drugs back when the setting was first written. If you stop it sucks, but it sucks less than being dead.

The way it was portrayed in the show it is as if some cyberware just makes you go nuts by itself and you're fucked the moment you slot it. That is quite a departure from the old lore even if Pondsmith did approve it (because let's face it he loves money).
