This is a direct threat to US national security too. Losing Elon would be losing SpaceX and that would remove the US's ability to launch new satellites. All remaining Delta and Atlas rockets are already scheduled. SpaceX is the only remaining US launch provider until ULA actual can successfully launch Vulcan-Centaur, which is 3 years behind schedule as usual for them.
