Yeah they've always been about 10 years behind the US in cultural trends, including pop culture. I first noticed in perusing various musical styles, going way back to the 60s, the most popular music felt a little like music in the US from 10 years prior, always with their own spin of course.

I'm sure it's accelerating now. They're not quite at peak woke yet and God willing they never get there, but after a few years it wouldn't surprise me. As Steampunk_Moustache pointed out below, once the right dominoes fall everything will happen quick.
