First of all, this is not an adaptation. This is a fanfic that's taking a few scraps out of the appendices and using them to make a glorified soap opera.

Second, this is why I've grown to hate the very concept of film and TV adaptations. There's a prevalent belief in western culture that these are the ultimate form of storytelling and what all stories must aspire to become, and if they don't, then they're inferior and in a sense "incomplete" and not good enough by themselves. That the act of having to read them if they're books or comics, play them if they're games, and so on, is an annoyance you have to endure. I hate this belief, I thought this thought process, and I think its fucking time that film (re)learns to stand on its own and stop leaching off the other mediums because the people behind them are creatively bankrupt.
